Product Description
At 34, the beautiful Maxine Shaw thrives in her current position as a federal parole officer. Known throughout countless federal correctional facilities for violating and sending parolees from her caseload back to prison, she's the most surprised when she lets her guard down for Seth. The confident, ruthless, Seth Richardson sets his sights on Maxine, who is instantly turned on by his swagger. The consequences she would face from her employer if she ever got caught dating a parolee is alluring. They begin a tumultuous, secretive relationship that has restrictions. Knowing that Maxine has aspirations of owning a small business, Seth convinces her to ignore his drug-hustling in order to get her the start-up money. Everything seems to be going according to plan until Maxine finds out that Seth has a major distraction in his life Samantha Mitchell. Samantha, who happens to be Seth's codefendant and 'ride or die' chick, has just come home from serving jail time in a women's federal camp. As both women compete for Seth's love and affection a sticky situation unfolds. Is Maxine cunning enough to outsmart Samantha and take her man for good? Or will Samantha's street-savviness outwit the educated Maxine?

Crazy is that crazy does ( mslediva )
Maxine is a parole officer that get caught up with one of her parolee's by the name of Seth. Maxine doesn't show how truly crazy she is until she agrees to let Seth get back out on his hustle so they could open a legitmate business together. No sooner than Seth get back into the action of hustling than all hell breaks lose.
Seth has plans that's unbeknownst to Maxine, include his ride or die chick Samamntha who took a gun wrap for him and did some serious time. The way Seth figures it is that by the time he makes his money Samantha would be out and they could live it up big time but little do he know, Samantha is just as crazy as Maxine with plans of her own.
Maxine makes Seth's life a living hell. She stalks him by following and calling him trying to see what he's up to. Seth's mother is caught in the middle of his madness but is standing by her son no matter what. Mike, Seth's supplier and head man is also shady and has plans of his own that don't include Seth getting to live out his dreams of baller status.
Every player on this book has a hidden agenda that keeps the pages moving. I enjoyed this book tremendously but in parts it had some unanswered questions like why was karen always commenting on Maxine in a picture with a guy that looked like one of her parolees if she never made anything out of it. i think had another angel been coming from that direction towards maxine the book could've really been explosive. which is the only reason, besides very few editing issues that i give this book 3.5 stars.
i look forward to diving into the wifey series. this was the first book i've read by this author and it won't be the last. good work ms swinson!

My first by her... not my last... ( rubiconreader )
I met this author at the BEA this past year and she was very nice and that is the MAIN reason I got this book. I knew she had written other books but I never had the "umph" to get them until I met her. (Note to authors: you NEVER know when you're going to meet a future or current fan)! Anyway, I had it in a box with the other thousands of books I have and ran across it this past week. All in all I really enjoyed this book. Seth had me wanting to kill his tail, Maxine... well Maxine (to me) was just plain pathetic! There are other characters but the story revolves around these two.
Kiki tells a very unbelievable yet believable story. Maxine has a much heightened sense of self which is good until you realize it's all fake, especially when she gets around Seth. You've heard the phrase "they're so smart that they're stupid"? Well this is Maxine through and through. Maxine knows this and Maxine knows that but as soon as Seth comes around to give her a little action she becomes the dunce in the classroom! He plays her like a harp and she fall for it Every. Single. Time. It was almost too much and I almost didn't continue the book because of her. Her "I'm a strong woman until I need some lovin' or until he tells me what I want to hear" routine was really starting to get on my nerves! Seth would do her soooooooo wrong but she would ALWAYS, ALWAYS say that "this would be the last time" or "I won't let it happen again, believe me". It got to be pathetically sad. I was like are you that blind? Unfortunately the answer would be a constant and repeated "yes".
It did not end the way I thought and I like that. I had it in my mind how everyone was going to turn up but it was nothing like I thought. There is true drama in this tome and a few scenes of some pretty hot and heavy sex which definitely helps out the story (heck, pretty much ANY story) hahahahahaha!! `A Sticky Situation' is a fast, easy, and fun read.

Never A Dull Moment! ( rhubbert )
Maxine Shaw, is a federal parole officer who deals with convicts all day. Maxine is hard-nosed and always goes by the book. She is smart, independent, and successful, but one thing that's missing is a good man. Maxine really has her hopes on being an entrepreneur and wants to make that dream a reality when she is passed up for a promotion on her job.
Everything changes when Maxine meets Seth, a bad boy just released from prison. Seth is not used to a 9 to 5 job and minimum wage. He needs money fast to help Maxine with the start-up cost for her business, and if that means returning to his old habits then so be it.
Maxine falls hard for Seth, but there is one problem: Seth is her client. Will Maxine risk her job and livelihood to begin this forbidden relationship?
Samantha is Seth's ride-or-die chick who is currently serving time. She's down for whatever with Seth, even taking a charge for him. Soon to be released, Samantha is out to claim what is rightfully hers.
As these two women battle for Seth's affection, deception can lead to consequences no one can expect. A Sticky Situation addressed points of view from every perspective. It looked at the working class, convicts, and how they both try to overcome obstacles. The past always comes back to haunt you and when it comes back, it may not always be good. Kiki Swinson did a good job of painting a realistic picture with a great storyline. There was never a dull moment in A Sticky Situation.
