A Personal Stylist for Everyone ( bookaddictabc )
This is an excellent book with a wealth of information you need to find your style or to improve upon it. Kendall Farr helps you determine your body type, discusses what specific styles best suit you, names the labels and stores where you can acquire said clothing, and leads you by the hand in shopping for clothes. She gives very detailed information about fabrics, stitching, care of clothing, how to select hoosiery, even how to pluck your eyebrows and choose the proper bra. This is a book you will want to refer to often. If you can only buy one book on style, then this would be the one. The only flaws I could find with this book is that there is no index which would have been very useful. Also, I sometimes felt that she forgot that many of us are buying our clothing at the mall and chain stores than we are on 5th Avenue. However, her emphasis on practicality makes up for this tiny flaw.

Useful but not very pretty
This book had a lot of information but that might be the problem. This book has too much writing and not enough pictures. The fashionably challenged women who are reading this book are not going to know half of the words the author uses to describe the fashions she's telling you to not to wear. Not helpful. If there were more pictures involved it would be really helpful to people who have no idea what is going on fashion-wise.
I did love how this was broken up into body types but the rest of the book was a waste once you read your section. I liked the specific rules for each body type and it really helped me understand what works and what doesn't.

Concise & useful ( wafa55 )
Excellent advice! Following the tips has changed the way I shop & even had people telling me I've lost weight. ;)

Great for a teenage daughter!
I purchased this book because my 13 year old daughter LOVES watching "What Not to Wear". It has helped her to learn more about how to look the way she wants to look. It is a great how-to for anyone of any age.
