Product Description
Key Weird - A different look at Florida. What do you do when you lose your possum ranch, all your money, and the Dalton Gang is on your trail? If you’re Taco Bob, you head for Florida and end up in tropical Key West hanging out with a collection of colorful and crazy locals, fishing for grunts, and avoiding Daltons. But there’s never a shortage of trouble in paradise. A sexy cult leader hits town looking for a golden idol she is convinced holds psychic powers. She teams up with the aging owner of the local topless bar, who is looking for a fortune in Spanish treasure stolen from him years earlier. Taco Bob’s idyllic tropical lifestyle comes to an abrupt end and he finds himself lost in the Everglades swamps. But he’s not as alone as he thinks, not with a hot cult leader, a cranky treasure hunter, and a mysterious old hermit in the neighborhood.

Product Reviews:
  Florida style
Great book , easy read makes you feel as though you are there with Taco through hid journey. Will be reading the follow up.
  Fun and quirky book
I never thought I'd read a book in which the main character is a man named Taco Bob, but I couldn't help picking this up after finding it on Amazon while I was searching for a guide to Florida. While this certainly isn't a guide, it is hilarious, and well-written, and quirky.

Pick this up for a quick afternoon read. You won't be sorry.
  A fun read ( slewis37 )
This was a fun read. It could easily be finished in an afternoon or two on the beach.

However, I don't think Christopher Moore, Jimmy Buffett, or Carl Hiassen or, for that matter, Tim Dorsey needs to feel particulary threatened, as Mr. Andlu suggests, who has reviews for all of Tacoma's books and has given all five stars. One has to wonder if Mr. Andlu was writing reviews simply to promote Tacoma's books.

Buy it, enjoy it. But, don't expect the depth of plot or character development you would get with Carl Hiassen or Tim Dorsey.

I will probably buy more of Tacoma's series. But, given that they are trade paperbacks and relatively expensive new, I will probably wait until they are available for little cost as used books and reserve my new-book budget for Hiassen and Dorsey.
one way ticket to the keys
i've never been to florida. never wanted to go to florida. that is, 'til i read robert tacoma's books.
now everytime i see an exit sign for a highway going south a little part of me wants to just take it and drive until i hit the keys.
you can't not like every one of robert tacoma's books. you also really can't not like every one of his created characters. even the ones you're not s'pose to like. somehow he just makes them all fun and makes them folks you could see yourself sharing a beer with....well, maybe in a well lighted place with a handy exit door.
thanks, taco bob! keep 'em coming!

  Lots of Fun
We met Mr Tacoma at a book signing during the Manatee Festival in Homassassa Springs a few months ago. I must tell you we bought the book just because we enjoyed the conversation with Mr. Tacoma so much. Had I known it was as good as it is, I would have bought a dozen for friends and family. If you like Carl Hiassen or Tim Dorsey, you will enjoy Key Weird as well. The "governor" even has a cameo in it.

It was so fun I bought and read Key Weird, thoroughly enjoyed it too and now I can't wait to get my copy of Key Witch.
