Out dated
The book has a lot of pictures of the different parts of the engine from different manufactures with descriptions. This however does not go into detail of what will work with what. Does not go into detail on rebuilding an engine. It is of some use just not what I thought it would be. A better title would be "The Aircooled VW Engine Picture Book".

Nice title.
Supposing you are an inexperienced owner of a VW Type I engine wishing to hot rod, it's a good idea having this book in your hands, as well as the following titles:
º How to Hot Rod Volkswagen Engines - Fred William Fisher
º VW Beetle Performance Handbook - Keith Seume
Reading all these titles before spending money with auto parts worth it.

Not complete ( rebecaosorio )
I wanted aircooled engine info. The title of this book should be Type 1 engine interchange manual as there is no info at all on other vw dub aircooled engines and the info that is there is not complete as a quick look at any vw performance site catalog will show. SO is it worth the price if you want type 1 info YES it is

Good overview of whats available
An informative book but not a first book to buy if youre interested in VW hotrodding. It would, however be an interesting companion to Bill Fishers Hot to Hotrod VWs book. NO detailed dyno tests in this book and it might make inexperienced owners want to build a drag race engine for the street, in which case they will encounter lots of problems as drag engines are not meant for street use. Nice to have though.
