Product Description
In this book Dr. R. Paul St. Amand offers the first effective protocol to help reverse the autoimmune disorder, Fibromyalgia, in children. The authors have adapted the programme in their first book, an alternative treatment using guaifenesin, a common ingredient in cough medicine, to treat children successfully. This inexpensive medication, available over the counter as well as in prescription strengths, has successfully eliminated symptoms in an astonishing 90% of his patients. In this landmark book parents can discover: * Why pediatric fibromyalgia is often not diagnosed * How to help children cope with symptoms before guaifenesin takes full effect * The link between pediatric fibromyalgia and hypoglycemia * Guidelines to determine the proper dose of guaifenesin for your child Inspired by his own Fibromyalgia to find a treatment, Dr. St. Amand spent 40 years researching his revolutionary program, which treats the causes of the condition and not just the symptoms.

The Guaifenesin Protocol
This book explains your pain, fatigue, and the inability to think clearly in a concise way that makes sense. My copy is dog-eared, highlighted and referred to time and again as I counsel others to use the protocol outlined. There are a lot of so-called gurus out there vying for attention, and a lot of conflicting research. After reading this book, and researching Dr. St. Amand, I became a patient of his. He has the disease and so does his staff. Together, they have helped me and countless thousands of others regain our lives. If you want to learn how to get your life back from pain, fatigue, and 'fibrofog', buy this book.

Horray for freedom from pain ( ampito )
This book is the first one that I have read that can offer freedom from fibromyalgia pain and, more important for me, fibrofog. The recipe is fairly simple, doing it will require committment.

Difficult to test ( dpb1 )
This is a well written book, and Dr. Amand is evidently a kind and caring doctor who knows a great deal about his field. He gives a lot of excellent advice.
I think that for most sufferers it would be hard to exactly follow the regimen he recommends. That makes it difficult to completely test his methods. Apart from taking guaifenesin, he recommends the complete elimination of all sources of salicylates, including not only aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid) but many other common products. In addition he considers many people to have hypoglycemia, even if their blood tests are normal, and this means an even stricter diet.

This book saved my life!
In-depth exploration of the cause and treatment of fibromyalgia as clearly explained for the layman as for the physician. This book provides HOPE for a CURE, not just symptomatic relief!

Just as good as Placebo
Amand claims that Guaifenesin can reverse Fibromyalgia, and cites a study by Robert Bennett, M.D. to "prove" his point. In fact, no Peer Reviewed Medical Journal has yet to publish that study and Dr. Bennett concluded at the end of the study that:
Guaifenesin does NOT increase either phosphate or uric acid excretions.
Study Participants were not taking salicylates over the course of the study.
Blood and Urine tests showed that Phosphate and Uric acid levels did NOT change.
Amand claims that Guaifenesin may not work if there is excess Phosphate in the body, and that you should avoid salicylates. There is absolutely no scientific data that proves that excess phosphate can cause Fibromyalgia.
Guaifenesin acts as mild muscle relaxer, although it can cause muscle paralysis.
Of course some people are going to experience relief if that's what they're expecting, especially when they're told that it's a "cure."
Don't waste your money on salicylate-free makeup as Dr. Bennett found that you would have to apply a large volume of makeup several times a day in order to absorb enough salicylates to effect uric acid levels.
